Roydon/Royden families have originated. For example:
Roydon of Raydon, Ramsey and East Peckham
Roydon of Battersea and Pyrford
Roydon of Bromfield, Co. Denbigh
Roydon/Royden of Chester
The aim of this is to show that most of these lines seem to have died out and that they are not related. These families has originated quite
separately (although there is likely to have been a link between the last two).
The occurance of the Royden name is clearly shown on the map below. The majority of these families are descended from Alexander Royden of Chester c.1660, including the Lanark families. There may well be small lines of unrelated descent elsewhere, especially in the London area for example, but the map tells its own story.
