Exterior Modifications

Unlike a lot of the boy racers out there I am trying to remain subtle on the outside. I want to be different yes, but I don't want regular Blue flashing light sessions, I have enough of those on my Yamaha thank you.

The Exhaust is a Powerflow Custom made Stainless Steel. This was fitted by RSR Tyres & Wheels at Croydon (the Sutton branch did the wheels). It was made to my spec and uses 3" piping and retains the catalytic converter. I wanted something that released power but didn't sound like a boy racer. The Scorpion and Janspeed both make noise and not a lot else. The exhaust released 5 BHP and made a noticeable difference. It is also fairly quite at low revs (a bit deeper note) but has a nice rasp when let loose. This is particularly liked by my neighbours as I leave very early for work on some days

The Fuel cap is a standard stick on Halfords special. I fitted it mainly to cover up all the paint chips on the original flap and to add a bit of sparkle to the near standard exterior

The grill has been an idea of mine for ages but only recently done. Again I didn't want a loud bodykit, but I did want to be subtly different and fit in with the de-badged look. So that middle bar with the ford badge just had to go.

Couldn't resist these green indicators. Again subtle but stylish. Shame the car was in desperate need of a wash when the photo's were taken.

You can also see the 16" BK Racing wheels running 205/50-16 tyres,

Next mod will be a Morrette Twin lamp kit. The Mondy lights are not bad, but I do a lot of night driving in the countryside and need as much as I can get. The lower Spot and Fogs are cheap 4" lamps that were picked as they will compliment the Morrette kit when fitted. They are wired to come on with Full beam and rear fogs respectively. Legal and no extra switches!

You may have noticed that the original dark grey bumper inserts have been re-sprayed flat black to match the Green/Black/Yellow theme of the car

Again all cars having even a pretension of BTCC honours have to have a Sun Strip. I at least went for a subtle one. Its actually a great help as the Mondy's windscreen is so huge I nearly always had the visor down to stop stray light. Now I don't need to. The only drawback is you cant see the traffic lights if you are too close

Here is a close-up of the 16's, you'll notice that Tarox Grooved disks are fitted and that the Callipers have been lacquered. Shame you cant see this most of the time because of all the brake dust etc. The pads are also Tarox. Definitely recommend this combination.

I've also had Croydon Race and Rally knock me up some new number plates with "MOLEMOBILE" logo on the base. These are fully road legal and will meet the new number plate laws coming in

So here is the final result, one different but not outlandish car. Being de-badged and a saloon is great, most people cant work out what she actually is. Also notice how low she sits

NEWS FLASH: Added a rear BTCC style spoiler on Sat 28th April
