Broquet Fuel Catalyst

I'm not going to try and explain how this works, I will leave you to go to their web site to read up. As a summary it acts as if it increases the octane rating of the petrol by about 5 RON. It definitely does work. In my old Y reg leaded only Sierra, I could run unleaded fuel easily WITHOUT retarding the ignition and without pinging, and that car had 250,000 miles on the clock when I got rid of it.

Putting the catalyst in the Mondeo takes a little effort as you need to open up the top of the fuel tank and drop it in. This is under the bottom cushion of the back seat and is fairly easy (but smelly). Make sure you open all windows, have lots of ventilation and no source of ignition nearby.

Did it make a difference. Certainly not a noticeable one, but it doesn't do any harm, and certainly when I re-built the engine the fuel system and cylinder head area was very clean. It may come into its own when I get the engine on a custom ECU map when the virtual octane increase may help. I may also help if I ever fill up with below par petrol, or cant get 95 RON if abroad. Also my fuel economy is as good as a standard engine. Will take it out and transfer it to any other car I own
