EXHIBITION COVERS
Oman and Italy took part in the first Philatelic Exhibition to be held in Abu Dhabi. Specially designed commemorative covers quickly sold out at the exhibition but a few are available. Each cover has an Omani issue cancelled with a ‘Muscat - Philexpo Abu Dhabi’ cds. These colourful covers are very scarce and rarely seen. Price £10.00 each.[Example]

STATE OF OMAN & DHUFAR
You will not find stamps from The State of Oman or Dhufar listed in any catalogues although some issues were reported, with issue dates, in the 1970’s in the privately produced ‘Arab World Philatelist’ in the USA. Both quasi states were within what is now The Sultanate of Oman. The ‘State of Oman’ was declared by Sheiks from the mountainous interior of Oman who were in conflict with the former Sultan, and Dhufar is a region in the south of Oman which was invaded by communist backed Yemenis with the intention of overthrowing the present Sultan’s father. The SAS and other British units were involved in both campaigns, & Iranian & Jordanian military units in the Dhufar war.The British government preferred not to admit to any involvement but details of the campaigns are well documented in hard to find military books. Anybody interested in these campaigns and looking for books should send me an email & I will give addresses of specialist book dealers. Many stamp issues will be of interest to thematic collectors.
