Home Page Thank you for finding my home page and welcome to the story of The Adirondack Line. I hope that while you are here, you will explore the information that I have put together for your enjoyment, which describes my 10 year 'retirement' project - I am in the second year! This is 15ft x 15ft multilevel N scale layout currently under construction in the UK, based upon prototype research in the Mohawk Valley and the Adirondack Mountains in upper New York State in the USA. It is planned for use with Digital Command Control and to simulate prototype operations. So take your time and enjoy your visit, there is a lot of information, so read a little now and come back later when you have more time. Before you go, please take a moment to feedback any comments in the form at the bottom of this page. The US prototype modellers are scattered all over the UK and do not have the opportunities of frequent meetings, so all comments can only add value to this project. I am especially interested, if anyone can add additional information regarding passenger or freight operation or movement of commodities to industries throughout this area and any historical information (history of industries etc) that could add to my current library of knowledge. Thanks for visiting. Your host, Malcolm Alberry. Linslade, UK, NMRA British Region, OPsig, LDsig, DCCsig. Last update:18 March 2002 - New DCC capability using Loconet - Added exciting photos of new UK designed DCC Tower Master Board installed in complex tower control panel built for friends layout. Imagine controlling 16 switches (points for the UK visitors) and 35 LEDS, by just connecting track power and Loconet to the panel. No more yards of wire to switches on the layout for local control etc. This is worth a look - follow this link please.- The building of my railroad has been stopped, due to a pending house move. Visitors have suggested that this web site is left in place to demonstrate the relationship between historical research and track planning. I hope to recommence the building as soon as the move is completed - please watch this space!!:-). Also modified 'Model Railroading with DCC' ring banner Please visit all these sections, if you have the time.Prototype This section describes the history of the prototype from the late 1800's onwards. Geographical This section describes the geographical area in New York State that I decided to use as the prototype. Cities and Towns Brief description of the cities and towns along the routes. Givens & Druthers What I wanted to accomplish in good old 'John Armstong' traditions. Track Plans Explanation to the track plan development and the plans.
