
Repton 2000 has no future in QB45. It won't take anymore so I'm converting it to DJGPP. BUT so as not to waste all my hard work, I'm cutting down Repton 2000 for QB into a shorter game called Repton Chaotix. Its available for download right away. Chris Knowles's level editor isn't included yet though.
If you want music run Repton.bat otherwise run Repton.exe. If there's no time bomb on a level, and you have completed all the objectives the level will automatically end. If not you must find the Timb Bomb. For for info see the README.TXT. Only spirits are not in this game, they unfortunately was the straw the broke QB's back. Ah well. As far as I know there are no bugs.
If you can't figure out how to play it there
is a new feature I've added called "demo mode", this put Repton in the
hands of the Computer and shows the basics of controlling and playing Repton
Chaotix. I have also included another level set called "ORIGINAL.LVS",
this is the first two levels of Repton (classic). I will be adding the
rest shortly. To load a level set select LOAD LEVEL SET in the main menu
and type in the name of the LVS
file (an extension must be supplied unless
the file has no extension).
Also I have included any alternate sprite set called "CQSPR.SPR", this is the set of sprites that eventually be used in the Crystal Quest 3 RC project. To load a sprite set select LOAD SPRITE SET in the main menu and type in the name of it, as above. I will shortly be releasing an easy to use sprite designer, that allows you to create sprite sets for Repton Chaotix. It can't import BMP setm so if anyone knows about BMPs then email me.
Finally, I have also included the original repton sprites in a file called "original.spr"
DOWNLOAD HERE very small, under 100K !!! Just because its small, doesn't mean its rubbish!
I need loads of feedback, if you find a bug send a report to the above address. Repton Chaotix has QB4.5. running on full boost and after burner, so I can't make any major amendments, but I can fix bugs. I have also taken out the title screen, because I had to elimate the BMP loader to allow enough memory for the menu.
When the Game is finished it will have :
- Full Repton 3 level objects.
- A Sprite editor for making sprite sets.
- Possibly Ego Repton 4 support. (if any one
can tell me anything about this game email
me)
- My own objects.
If you want to suggest any objects that you think should be in the game email me.
THIS PROJECT IS CURRENTLY MOTHBALLED.
It isn't started yet and if anyone who's an
expert in C++/Allegro wants to help me send me and email.
