The Christ Well Project

The Christ Well project is the weekday activities taking place in the building. Through these we hope to encourage the involvement of the people of Manselton, for Christ Well is very much of and for the local community.

Presently we have over 150 children aged between 5 and 13 participating in midweek evening clubs. This is now extended to include pre-school children coming to Carer & Toddler or playgroup sessions. These not only present children with an opportunity for play and the development of social skills, but also provide openings for carers to meet, exchange ideas and make new friends.

The building has a large area which is used as a coffee shop, open three mornings a week. People can call in for a snack, enjoy the company or perhaps seek advice. Brunch is served until 12.30 pm and has proved popular. The coffee shop is also open during youth meetings.

The many rooms are used for church and non-church events. We host the free educational courses provided by Swansea College through the East Side Initiative. More than 100 people use the building each week. The hall is becoming a popular venue for children’s parties. Hopefully, many more ideas will come from the community, for the Project is very much a market place, where people of all ages, backgrounds and persuasions are welcomed and encouraged to participate.

The Christ Well Project is not however a community centre, nor has it the primary objective of filling seats in the worship area. The word ‘friendly’ is at the heart of the Project. Christ himself ministered to the needs of His community through friendly, loving action and service. Through the activities at Christ Well, we seek to bring Jesus into the lives of local people and make the gospel relevant to their daily needs.

We believe this vision has been given by God and we wish to fulfil it to His glory.
