Station Details
The station consists of three main elements.
A classic Davis Vantage Pro Plus weather station which is situated in my back garden. The station is mounted approximately five feet off the ground to a wooden post. The anenometer is mounted at the same height on another wooden post. This does lead to very reduced wind speeds and I hope to eventually mount the anenometer on the roof of the house. The main station contains temperature, humidity, solar and UV radiation detectors. The station talks wirelessly to a receiver in my conservatory.
The receiver in the conservatory receives the data and stores it in a Davis WeatherLink logger. With my current settings this can store up to 15 days of data before running out of memory.
The datalogger is connected to a Laptop of minimal specification through a USB to serial connector. The computer currently uses the Davis WeatherLink software (v 5.4) which stores the data from the logger on the computer hard drive. This then posts data to this website on a regular basis. The ticker above is updated every five minutes. The detailed current conditions every hour whilst the graphs of the past week are updated every six hours.
Ash
Ash is a village approximately two miles west of the town of Sandwich in Kent. Whilst I have only lived here for ten months now, I have to say that village life is fantastic. The village has real history and a warm welcome. It has a Post Office, two village stores, Estate Agency, three pubs, two churches, hairdressers, doctors surgery, etc... All you need to keep you going in fact.
