UK Resources for Web Accessibility and the Law

This page is intended to provide a comprehensive list of resources for those interested in the legal aspects of Web Accessibility in the UK. As well as providing links to Government legislation (primary and secondary), there are also links to other official documents as well as articles and presentations.

This page also contains a bibliography of the work of Martin Sloan LLB and includes links to material available online as well as citations for articles published in print. Martin graduated from the University of Glasgow in July 2001, having researched the area of Web Accessibility and the law for his honours dissertation. His original paper was reproduced in whole by the Journal of Information, Law and Technology in July 2001 and since then Martin has written articles for several other leading legal journals.

In addition to this, Martin has also carried out research for the Digital Media Access Group at the University of Dundee (who supported the initial paper) and the JISC funded body TechDIS, who provide an advisory service for higher and further education institutions. Martin has also been invited to present seminars at the RNIB's Techshare conference and the University of Edinburgh.

Martin is a solicitor with Edinburgh commercial law firm Brodies.
