Friends of Dawpool School

Our local church primary school has what is called grant-aided status.  One implication of this is that the governors need to provide up to 15% of any building work or repairs done at the school.

In order to help with the raising of this money the Friends of Dawpool School was set up a number of years ago.  FODS is a parent/teacher association which not only raises these funds but also helps the school to provide the many extras that enhance school life. These include hiring coaches (with seatbelts) to attend events, providing rosettes and prizes for sports day, supplying Easter eggs and selection boxes. We also help the school as a one-off basis with items such as netball posts and computer stools.

FODS run a number of fundraising and fun events over the year which are open to all from school, church and the wider community.  We aim to provide events at a reasonable price that people can enjoy.  We also run bicycle rides, walks, games evenings and children's discos on a non-profit basis.

Over the last few years FODS has contributed to the new computer suite, built a new quiet area and we are providing funds for the toilet refurbishment and the reception redevelopment.  We visit St Chad's church for a number of our events.  Our aim is to increase the profile of our church school and FODS in the parish, and to make the events more accessible to people not directly linked to the school.  Anyone is welcome to our events.

Please look out for the posters in the church or talk to Peter Robson (contact through the Parish Office) for more information.
