Originally built as a temporary structure, the Tower is now over 100 years old. You can still go to the top and the view from there is (I'm told) stunning. In the lead-up to the Millennium a daily countdown was displayed , hence the glowing letters.

Paris is a must-see city: it has charm, history, and more than you can see in a week. Contrary to common belief, the French are mostly friendly and respond well if you praise their city. They are proud of it - with good reason.
