Have a good look at the six pictures above. Can you make-up, and write, a story about Tilly and her friends, using these six pictures from Polly Dunbar, to celebrate National Share-a-Story Month?

Section 1 (0 - 6yrs.)

For children up to, and including, 6 years of age your story should be no longer than 100 words.

The section winner will receive a signed copy of David Almond & Polly Dunbar's book "My Dad's a Birdman" along with copies of the 4 books in the "Books for Younger Children" category of the Red House Children's Book Award 2008 Top Ten.

Also, 2 runners-up in the section will both receive a signed copy of David Almond & Polly Dunbar's book "My Dad's a Birdman".

 

Section 2 (7 - 11 yrs.)

For children from 7years to 11 years old your story should be no longer than 250 words.

The section winner will receive a signed copy of David Almond & Polly Dunbar's book "My Dad's a Birdman" along with copies of the 3 books in the "Books for Younger Readers" category of the Red House Children's Book Award 2008 Top Ten.

Also, 2 runners-up in the section will both receive a signed copy of David Almond & Polly Dunbar's book "My Dad's a Birdman".

 

Section 3 (12 - 16 yrs.)

For children 12 years of age and older your story should be no longer than 500 words.

The section winner will receive a signed copy of David Almond & Polly Dunbar's book "My Dad's a Birdman" along with copies of the 3 books in the "Books for Older Readers" category of the Red House Children's Book Award 2008 Top Ten.

Also, 2 runners-up in the section will both receive a signed copy of David Almond & Polly Dunbar's book "My Dad's a Birdman".

 

Overall Winner

From the winner of each section an overall winner will be chosen. The overall winner will receive an additional prize of an original piece of artwork, personally signed by Polly Dunbar, and dedicated to the winner.

Stories entered for the competition will not be returned to entrants, 

unless an appropriately stamped addressed envelope is enclosed with the entry.
