2. Ralph BESSANT. Born in c1730. Ralph died in Weston in Gordano on 23 Mar 1807, he was 77.

Ralph Ressent of Clevedon Tything was selected by compulsory ballot to serve in the `Fifth Company of the Second Battalion` of the Somerset Militia in 1758.

On 8 Feb 1762 when Ralph was 32, he first married Mary WILLMOT, daughter of Joseph WILLMOT (27 May 1711-), in Walton In Gordano. Born on 3 May 1741 in Walton In Gordano. Mary died in c1772, she was 30.

They had one child:
4 i. John (1762-1837)

On 4 Dec 1775 when Ralph was 45, he second married Elizabeth BULLOCK, in Portishead. Elizabeth died in Weston In Gordano on 19 Feb 1832, she was 75. Born in 1757.

iv. Mary. Mary died on 25 Jan 1797 in St. Johns, Bedminster.

3. William BESSANT. Born ca 1734. William died in Weston In Gordano on 31 Mar 1818, he was 84. Occupation: Lab.

William Bessant of Clevedon Tything was allowed as a substitute, for William Hort, to serve in the `Fifth Company of the Second Battalion` of the Somerset Militia of 1758.

On 22 Apr 1765 when William was 31, he married Ruth CULLIMORE, daughter of Samual CULLIMORE (1709-13 Oct 1779) & Ruth THORN (abt 1710-28 Jun 1761), in Weston In Gordano. Born on 14 May 1745. Ruth died in Weston in Gordano on 16 Jan 1803, she was 57. Buried in Feb 1803 in Weston in Gordano.

On 10 Apr 1809 when Joseph was 23, he married Hannah MITCHELL, in St. Mary Redcliff. Born in 1787. Hannah died in Cathay, Bristol. on 5 Mar 1849, she was 62. Buried in Weston In Gordano.
