Dorset Olde Tyme Bulldogge's |

Steve Barnett has been breeding his Olde Tyme BullDogges, to try and improve the bulldog breed as a whole, and re-establish a better fitter Bulldogge. From as early as the 12th century, it is documented that the traditional Bulldogs were used for bull and bear baiting. Documented throughout history and in full swing between the 15h and 16th century, some of these original early BullDogs were still around during the early part of the 18th century. These primary BullDogs were then diluted down by the champion stock of the day, leaving us with show quality kennel club bulldog that exists today. The aim has been to re-establish the vigor, courage and determined characteristics of the original BullDog lineage using bulldog blood, the lost early type, similar to crib and rosa, (photos and pictures of these can be found in most good quality Bulldog books). These early dogs were full of agility, speed and stamina, whilst keeping variation in weight and height and retaining the strong traditional BullDog looks and characteristics.
