Materials Science (NW) Ltd is based in the UK and has built up a World-wide reputation over nearly 30 years for the manufacture of high quality, competitively priced, laboratory equipment for the sectioning and preparation of specimens in Metallurgical, Materials Science and (more recently) Medical, Dental and Forensic laboratories.
The metallurgical/materials science laboratory equipment is centered on the Spark Erosion Machine and the Metalthin. The Spark Erosion Machine is designed to cut metals without distortion. There are a number of associated accessories, including a wirecutter and an extensive range of clamps for securing specimens during cutting.
The Metalthin employs twin-jet electropolishing to produce high quality thin-foils for subsequent examination by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). It was originally developed for producing thin foils from radioactive materials. Relevant accessories are available.
The recently formed Medical Division produces the Bone Saw and Tooth Saw for use in Medical, Forensic, Dental and Archeological laboratories for the accurate sectioning of bones,teeth and tissue.
