Two
views of D1015 in the Factory at Old Oak Common in early 2000. You can find more
recent pictures on the "Mainline Picture
Gallery" page.

(left) D1015
may not have been operational between 1977 & 2002, but she has been mobile! From
the left, D1015, D1023 & D1062 at Laira Depot Open day in 1991. (right)
D1015 seen alongside D818 at the famous turntable at Swindon Works on 3rd May
1984.

The
TPWS Installation on D1015: These two views are of B Cab, courtesy of the Diesel
Traction Group. On the left, a casual observer could be mistaken for thinking
that the Locomotive is not TPWS fitted. However, great care has been taken to
minimise the visual impact of having modern technology applied to a late 1950's
design and the only dead giveaways are the TPWS siren & status indicator unit
shown in the right hand picture. The "Cab Secure Radio" speaker is also visible
in the drivers desk panel to the right of the TPWS unit.
[Left]
In this view of A Cab, the amount of work carried out is obvious. The existing
AWS wiring conduit is used for the TPWS wiring and the AWS "Change End" switch
and other AWS items appear to be reused also. The TPWS aerials are located on
each bogie, unfortunately I have not received any pictures of this part or the
installation - and please, no attempts should be made to get any pictures by
lying down on the track as D1015 approaches!!
Seek
and ye shall find! Mark Alden forwarded me some pictures of the TPWS antenna
bracket (left) and how the antenna looks when mounted (right). Also to be seen
are a bogie brake cylinder and directly behind the antenna is a final drive.
Definately no need to lie on the tracks now! [DTG/Chris Hatton]
