Turkey

In 1961 Krauss-Maffei built three ML2700 locomotives for Turkish Railways (TCDD). This was possibly a response by Turkey after V200 005 was tested in Greece & Turkey during April/May 1955. These locomotives were mechanically derived from the original ML3000, but built with a heavy underframe with a centre cab, looking very much like an oversized DB V80/V100. Each nose contained an MD655 & Voith L630rU transmission, instead of the Mekydro K184 of ML3000. Because of the lower maximum power input of the Voith transmission the engines were set to 1350hp each. The whole locomotive rode on two three axle bogies which were of similar construction to those fitted to the first wave of US ML4000's. TCDD originally numbered these locomotives DN22 001 - DN22 003. There is a page on the Turkish Railway Enthusiasts site, but that is about it, apart from revealing that the locomotives were reclassified to DH27.

Initially, I hadn't found any links with pics for these locomotives. However, Clive Barlow found some and forwarded them to me Thanks Clive!

The website is a German one, "Eisenbahn Bildarchiv". There are two photo's, both taken in May 1982, which proves that the locomotives were operational into the 1980's.
