V200 007 was built by MaK and entered service in 1956. It was renumbered 220 007 in 1968 and was finally withdrawn from DB service on 31st December 1984, having been stopped on 5th March 1984. Between being stopped and final withdrawal this locomotive did work a number of times, including on the "V200 Abschied" special train on 26th May 1984. Since 1st January 1985 V200 007 has been an active DB Museum Locomotive, based at Lübeck. This locomotive is fitted with Mercedes engines and Voith transmissions. In 1992 the computer number of this locomotive was changed to 288-202 due to the unification of Germany and the rationalisation of the former DR fleet into the DB numbering scheme.
