The
one that got away! D818 survived at Swindon works until the spring of 1985 when
she was scrapped. D818's longevity was in part due to a claim that she was a
source of spares for D832 which was used by the Railway Technical Centre at
Derby during the mid '70's. When this picture was taken on 3rd May 1984, we all
believed that to have survived for so long "Glory" was bound to be saved. Less
than a year later, she was gone.

is seen here on one of its many travels, in this case to the Llangollen Railway
in 1996 (I think). The location is Glyndyfrdry in the early evening. (right)
Despite the D810 numbers and nameplate, this is still D821! Warning yellow was
temporarily applied to the normally green of ends of D821 for the East
Lancashire Railway July '98 gala so that the memories of "Green Full Yellow"
Warships could be recreated for the camera! Picture courtesy of Herzogmann!
