In 1958, Krauss-Maffei completed three ML2400 locomotives based on the original ML2200 demonstrator that was tested in Yugoslavia. These were designed to operate over lightly constructed track and were fitted with two three axle bogies based on the two axle bogie fitted to the original V200. These locomotives were fitted with MD650 engines rated at 1200hp and drove into K104 transmissions. They were allocated numbers D66-001 - D66-003 and were known as the "Tito Loks" because their primary function was to haul General Tito's train. All three still survive and are in remarkably good condition too. After being retired from service they stood in the country now known as Subotica, formerly part of the Yugoslavian Republic. In 2005 they were moved to Beograd where the intention is to restore one to working order and then use it on charter trains. All three have been seen since by various people passing through Beograd who have reported that no restoration work appears to have been started. They were reclassified as 761's by JZ during the 1970's.

A welcome update from Hannibal! I now have some pictures of these locomotives, taken on 24th May 2003, featuring all three of the 761's reposing in Subotica.
