Thomas
(Jr) and Bridget were twins. Archbishops transcripts age Bridget as 22 when she died in
1786. This would give her year of
birth as 1763/4. However, parish records record the date of
her baptism as the 31st of August 1767.
It could be that parish records exaggerate her age at death or that
the twins were presented late for baptism.
However, twin brother Thomas was described as “infant” in the record
of his burial about 4 months later. It will be noted that second wife Sarah was named
Mason before her marriage. Possibly
she was related to Bridget’s husband.
Whatever the case, she must have been somewhat younger than Thomas who would have been
around 52 when his youngest daughter was born. Young Sarah died in Southburgh
and her death was registered by a Mathew Brasnett who is thought to have been the grandson of
Ann |
