Hi, my name is Mel (short for Melvyn) I am 61 years young. I trained as a Motor mechanic when I left school, and I have worked in various areas of the Motor trade ever since. I now work for a local garage as a motor mechanic / workshop manager, and have been with them for 26 years. Well that's enough about Work !!
My main hobby is Computers, I started in 1981 with a BBC Micro model b, it had 32kb of memory, no hard disc, and programs were loaded via a cassette tape player. I learned to program in BBC basic, and spent many, many enjoyable hours on it. Then it died around 1988, and I got married in 1989 so it was goodbye to computers until April 1996.
My latest system is an HP Pavilion Media Centre Elite M9170, to see the specs go to the bottom of this page.. My daughter uses my old Matech (specs below), and I have an HP laptop ZV6000 (specs below). I have been on the internet since August 1997. I am also very interested in Space Travel and astronomy, I regularly visit the NASA web site, and the pictures from the Mars mission were brilliant. Included in the pictures on the site there are some 3d photo's of the planets surface which , when viewed through 3d glasses are incredible. Click Here to see for yourself.
I also like to play the guitar, I played in a few bands in the seventies, but now I play just for fun.
My other main interest is Formula one motor racing, I never miss a race on television, and my favourite driver and team at the moment are Lewis Hamilton and McLaren. A friend of mine used to race in formula 4 and I was his mechanic for three years, It was a great time, we had a 16 race season at all the racing circuits in England. We only ever won one race but were always up in the top 5 or 6, the front runners had good sponsors and plenty of money. But, how ever well we did in a race the main thing is we enjoyed every moment of it.
