Throughout the writing of this book I wondered if it should be published. It is deeply personal and I asked myself if such an experience was relevant to the world at large. |
There were two books which I read that made me feel almost ashamed that I should try to express my feelings. One was Brian Keenan's 'An Evil Cradling' and the other was 'The Railwayman' by Eric Lomax. Both these men suffered in a manner way beyond my comprehension. My experiences are mere afterthoughts compared to the abominations that these men suffered. |
After much thought I decided that although this was the case, there was still a story to be told. It is a valid story that hopefully will give readers some insight to events which happen daily for many families and of which most are ignorant. Hopefully the book will also help raise awareness and funds for those families who have gone through or have yet to go through similar experiences. |
Childhood cancer is very rare. Nowadays many children survive. Treatments change and vary considerably. If you have a child with cancer, do not take this as a typical case. Our situation of double cancer was very very rare although many of the emotions are not. If you have a child with cancer then I send you all my love and my thoughts are with you. |
All names in the book have been changed except that of Max. This was done to shield those named because of the personal aspects of the story. |
