Musketeer & Landguard Fort 1667
The first Union Jack 1606 & 1707

WELCOME TO ONE AND ALL!

On 28th October 1664, Charles II raised 1200 "land soldiers for sea service" and placed them under command of his brother, James (later to be James II). They were known as The Duke of York & Albany's Maritime Regiment or The Lord High Admiral's Regiment (both titles held by James).

They were the first English marines.

If you are looking for an interesting and amusing after-dinner or group speaker or as part of a Suffolk/Marines history event, what about one of the Musketeers (in the colourful 1667 uniform with weapons and equipment) who defended against the last major opposed invasion of England at Landguard Point, Felixstowe, on 2nd July 1667?
