General
Information
Welcome to
Oddball Productions, this is my (Mike Todd's) online portfolio. I'm a
freelance illustrator, based on the edge of London. I graduated from Middlesex
University in 1998, specializing in illustration and animation. Since
then I have produced work for many different areas of illustration, including
editorial, book publishing, design, advertising, and internet work, for
both large and small companies. Some of my recent clients include BBC
Match of the Day magazine, The Prince's Trust, Bull Associates, The Big
Issue, Computer Shopper, Osmose, TCM, The Vegan magazine and BT. My work
has also recently been shown at the Association of Illustrators Images
25 exhibition showing the best of British illustration, and also for the
2001 International Digital Art Awards, shortlisted amongst the top 45
digital artists in the world.
Included
in the illustration section is a broad range of images, commissioned and
unpublished. If you wish to see further samples, commission me, discuss
your requirements, or would like to make any comments, please go to the
contact section.
Work process
Roughs:
Once
briefed I'll produce a rough, which is e-mailed to the client for approval.
When this has been approved I create the finished artwork.
Final
Artwork:
The
finished artwork is produced digitally, which means the client doesn't
have to waste time scanning any work. This can then be sent on CD by first
class registered mail in the UK or alternatively e-mailed as an attachment
for an even faster turnaround.
Pricing:
The pricing for a job is based on several factors:
- The area
or territory where the artwork is to be reproduced (for example, UK,
EU, World.)
- Whether
the artwork is colour or monochrome.
- The size
of the artwork.
- Deadline
length.
- Licence
length. Excluding editorial work, a one year licence is usually sufficient
for most clients. For further info see Terms
& Conditions section.
Copyright:
Copyright
gives the holder the right to reproduce the image in any way shape or
form throughout the world for the creators life time plus seventy years.
Such a wide-ranging right is very seldom needed, and therefore the copyright
of artwork commissioned by a client shall be retained by the illustrator
unless otherwise stated. Clients sometimes request the assignment of copyright,
but they are normally happy to accept a licence when they realize that
it is exclusive and can cover all their requirements.
