LINCOLNSHIRE FREECEN PROJECT

The aim of this, together with other county projects, is to provide a “free to view” searchable database of all the UK  19th century  Census Returns of the whole country.

Volunteers from all over the world are working on the project. In the first instance, the return is transcribed followed by a checking procedure.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints(LDS) have kindly loaned us the 1891 census on microfiche and now we are now also  working on the 1861 from CD’s which are being loaned to volunteers by  kind permission of LDS.

Software is provided together with tutorials and volunteers can subscribe to various “helpers” lists.

For helping with the 1891 census you require a computer together with a microfiche reader or access to one.

If you do not have a reader then the 1861 can be worked on using CD’s.

Without  the invaluable support of our volunteers this project would not have got going and we do need more people to help us press on with the work. If you are interested , please contact me, the County Co-ordinator:-
