Newsletter 1 March 2000 IN THE AUCTIONS Christies held their fist 'Classic Art Deco' sale in February 2000. Included in the sale was a black basalt, part coffee set designed by Keith Murray. This was the only Keith Murray included in the sale and consisted of the coffee pot with lid, creamer and sugar bowl with lid. Estimates for the set were £500-£700 with the hammer going down at £1100. FAKE ALERT It has come to our attention that fakes of Keith Murray have started to come into the country. Pieces are believed to have come from the USA, although the origins of manufacture are not known. As yet we do not have any pictures of the offending objects. Unfortunately all we can do is urge collectors to be cautious when buying. NEW KEITH MURRAY COLLECTORS CLUB A new internet based Keith Murray collectors club is due to be launched on the 6thMay 2000. The club will be run by Mr L. Griffin, who also runs the Clarice Cliff collectors club.
