Notes: This is a nice walk on a summer day which is when we did it. It’s the same walk as in the guidebook referenced above but we started from a different place. Go to the pier in Falmouth and take the ferry to St Mawes. From St Mawes take the Ferry to Place. Pick up the walk route just beyond point “C”. Note there is no point taking a ferry from Falmouth before 09.30 as there will be no ferry to Place until after 10.00. Do check the times of the return ferries as it’s a long walk back if you miss the last one! You can park easily in Falmouth there are 2 or 3 big carparks close to the town centre. You can also waste time easily in St Mawes which has a good selection of icecream and fudge shops. The coastal sections of this walk are interesting and the views are spectacular. You can see the Manacles on a clear day. The path is well trodden and you could do it in approach shoes in the summer. We think it would be a bit muddy in the winter though. When you get back to Falmouth try out our favourite coffee shop De-Wynns in the main street. It’s got a lovely old bow fronted window and serves great cake. Needless to say a pasty will make the perfect snack while on the walk. If the lighthouse on the point is open you can make a small detour to visit it.
