Alan Coatesworth

Alan

A rope to my waist, you pulled me along
Laughter from us both as we played
Walks we had, my legs ached
On your back you carried me
I felt safe as you held me tight
Oh, how I miss those days

Tricks we got up to on mischievous day
Tying cotton bobbins to doors
The rocket you lit on bonfire night
Gave us a laugh as it fell on its side
The lady it just missed, gave her a fright
Oh, how I miss those days

You cared for me when I left home
Got me a flat of my own
We'd go for a pint in the local pub
We'd go for a walk on the moors
You encouraged me to better myself
You cried when the army I did join
Oh, how I miss those days

Alan, my brother, your life was short
Taken from us at a tender age
The tears they fell as soon as I heard
I came as fast as I could
In heaven with Chrissie and Jean
I'll see you again, you have my word
Please save a place for me.
