Education and so on...
I am a Londoner and was born (1948) and brought up in Crouch End, where I lived for about 14 years before my family moved to East Finchley.

I went to school at: Fortis Green Nursery School, Rokesly Infants School, Crouch End Junior School and Stationers' Company's School (Three out of the four no longer exist - is somebody trying to tell me something?). I have recently discovered that Stationers' has an old boys website.

Having not done as well as I had hoped in my A levels, I abandoned my plan to become a dentist and went instead to The Northern Polytechnic (AKA North London Polytechnic), which, I think, is now called something like the University of North London. I studied Botany and Zoology in the BSc (general) course and came out at the end with a 2.1 Hons. Judith and I were married during the summer before my finals' year.

I then moved on to Sussex University for my PGCE in Biology (Secondary), which I completed in 1972.

I began my teaching career as a Biology teacher at Ashfield School in Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, where I stayed for a little over 4 years. While there, we lived in Long Eaton in Derbyshire. It was during this time that I began to get involved in folk dance activities. For a while I was East Midlands area secretary of the English Folk Dance and Song Society and through that involvement I had my first taste of Morris and Sword Dancing as well as learning the basics of how to call a barn dance.

In January 1977 I moved to Bushey Middle School as Head of Science... and we moved to Epsom in leafy Surrey. When the government announced its first Computers for Schools scheme in the early 80's I took on the school computer, got the bug (!) and got very involved.

In September 2001 I started a new life as ICT Subject Manager at Poplar Primary School in Morden.

Between 1987 and 1992 I gained both a Diploma in Professional Studies in Education (Computer Education) from West London Institute of Higher Ed. and an M.Ed. in Educational Computing from King's College, London.
