I'm fascinated by geology...

• Seismic Monitor maps all the world's earthquakes for the past few years. You can find out about all seismic events in the last 30 days and get more detailed information about earthquakes stronger than mag 6.

• Volcano World is an entry into the world of, well, volcanoes - with lots of links to interesting places and things...

Inventions fascinate me, too. Two great sites to visit...

• Local Heroes Home Page Local Heroes is a TV programme about inventors and where they lived. It includes allsorts of historical and mechanical stuff presented in an interesting way. There have now been two series and pages for both are accessible from here.

• Fred Dibnah's Industrial Age Fred looks at the development of industry, particularly at steam engines, the machines which changed the world as we know it. Try Fred's Amazing Animated Steam Machines. (Go on....!)

A new word explained each day ... You can even submit your own!

• The Maven's Word of The Day This used to be Jesse's Word of the Day. Maven means "expert" and is a borrowing from Yiddish. The page has links to previous words of the day (or do I mean the words of previous days?)

While I was learning to produce this website I found the HTML Bad Style Page an excellent source of ideas for what makes a good or bad webpage. I would recommend a visit. (Surfing the net quickly shows that there are many web authors who have not visited it!)
