Membership Information

Another satisfied library user... Membership is open to any user who wants to support the library. There are nearly 400 members on the books, and the nembers are growing rapidly. The dues are £1 per person in the family per year and many people give generous donations as well. Our membership secretary, Ian Carruthers, does a splendid job keeping track of members and following up on renewals.

Discovering the world of books together Members receive HLAGNEWS five times a year and can keep right up with the latest events by watching the HLAG noticeboard in the Library. Members regularly donate books to the library, which helps keep our stock up to date in a time when the Council is cutting back on the stock fund every year. Membership fees mainly go towards buying books to make up for this shortfall, and also pay for children's activities in the holidays. Events such as talks, readings, and discussions are held in the library, and HLAG pays the expenses. Recently, dinosaurs were purchased for the Junior Library!
