Shenley & Westcroft Express
Bus
|
|
| If you live in Loughton, the Shenleys or
Westcroft you might have given up on local buses years ago. Slow,
infrequent services in cramped, old buses that bounce up and down over
every road hump is enough to deter all but the desperate.
Happily there is now a new fast bus service that runs
directly along the grid roads using modern, spacious buses. Service 8 runs every
15 minutes from Mondays to Fridays and every 30 minutes on Saturdays. Check the times on the Council's
timetable site.
|

|

| The 8 runs from Morrisons at Westcroft, past
the Shenleys and serves the railway station, shopping centre, Fox Milne
roundabout (for Willen Lake) and the TESCO extra store at Kingston.
Journeys run beyond Kingston to either Bletchley or Woburn Sands.
Anyone planning more than a couple of journeys should
consider an all-day Metro Daily ticket for £3 which gives
unlimited travel on all MK Metro buses for a whole day. This
includes MK Metro buses which operate outside the city.

Using service 8 does mean walking to the
grid road but for anyone living near to the route in Emerson Valley,
Shenley Church End, Shenley Brook End, Shenley Lodge, Furzton or Loughton this is likely to be a better bet than other
services, even if they do come into the estates.
Fox Milne roundabout is a few minutes walk from the
south-east corner of Willen Lake or 10 minutes walk from the Water Sports
Centre. |
