Shenley & Westcroft Express
Bus
|
|
| If you live in Loughton, the Shenleys or
Westcroft you might have given up on local buses years ago. Slow,
infrequent services in cramped, old buses that bounce up and down over
every road hump is enough to deter all but the desperate.
Happily there is now a fast bus service that runs
directly along the grid roads using modern, spacious buses. Service 8
now runs every
15 minutes from Mondays to Saturdays and every 30 minutes evenings &
Sundays. Check the times on the Council's
timetable site.

|

| The 8 runs from Morrisons at Westcroft, past
the Shenleys and serves the railway station, shopping centre, Woolstone
& Fox Milne
roundabouts (for Willen Lake) and the TESCO Extra store at Kingston.
Anyone planning more than a couple of journeys should
consider an all-day DaySaver ticket for £3.90 which gives
unlimited travel on all of Arriva's MK network for a whole day. This
includes some buses which operate outside the city.

Willen Lake |
Using service 8 does mean walking to the
grid road but for anyone living near to the route in Emerson Valley,
Shenley Church End, Shenley Brook End, Shenley Lodge, Furzton or Loughton this is likely to be a better bet than other
services, even if they do come into the estates.
Alight at Woolstone roundabout for the south-west corner
of Willen Lake including the Water Sports Centre & Extreme Climbing
Course. Alight at Fox Milne roundabout for the
south-east corner of the lake. |
