Morrowind Starting Tips
I have decided to do some tips for Morrowind. I have played the game quite a bit, so I hope that you'll find some of what I say here useful. The first tip I will give is be careful which plug-ins you use, as if you use too many, you run the risk of corrupting your save files. At the end of each game session, back up your save files as well!
I always find that creating your own character class is best as that way, you can have the bonuses where you want them. Also, having Athletics and Acrobatics in the Major or Minor skills means that just by running and jumping around Vvardenfell, you will go up in levels.
In Seyda Neen, give the ring back to Fargoth as soon as you see him (you can get it back later), he will increase your disposition to Arille in the Trade House. Go see Hrisskar at the top of Arille's Trade House and he will offer you a job of finding Fargoth's Hiding Place. To find it, go to the top of the lighthouse (steal everything from the top and read the book - it will increase a skill - as will a lot of books), go outside and look over to the muddy puddle and wait until 10 pm of the first day. Behind the lighthouse are two hollow stumps, in one is an axe, in the other one is a silver goblet and some gold. When you see Fargoth go into the muddy puddle. Then go and look in the hollow tree stump. You will find the ring, 300 gold and a lockpick. Go see Hrisskar and he will give you 100 gold and tell you to keep the rest.
If you want to, while you are waiting, go West out of Seyda Neen and find the body of the Tax Collector. Go see Socucius Ergalla in the Customs office and he will ask if you found any money on him. If you say no, he will say fair enough, and you have just got 200 gold. BUT, if you say yes and give him the 200 gold back, he will ask you to solve the murder, kill the culprit and then collect 500 gold. The killer is Foryn Gilnith. When you speak to him, he will give an excuse as to why he killed him. If you kill him and then go back to Socucius, he will give you 500 gold and you will have your own house to boot. However, the way that I have done this, is to find the Tax collector, gone to see Foryn Gilnith, killed him, then gone to see Socucius, and he has given me 500 gold without taking the 200, so leaving me with 700 gold. Woohoo! While you are here, pick up some Bungler's Bane, Hypha Facia, Violet Coprinus, Luminous Russula, Stoneflower petals, Gold Kanet, Heather, Willow Anther and a Ceramic Bowl. Do not sell these items as you will need them for a later few quests.
When you have sold lots of stuff to Arille, buy a couple of Ondusi's Unhinging scrolls, then go to the door opposite the Customs and Excise office. Save the game, drop all of your stolen articles then use the scroll on the locked door. If you are lucky, the scroll will unlock the door first go, and no-one will see you doing it. Pick up all of your stolen goods again, and go in. There is a wandering guard in here, so you have to be careful. Raid all of the boxes, barrels and sacks, keep what you want, sell what you don't. Make sure you put down the speed (moon sugar) and Alco pop (skooma) before talking to Arille. You can sell the skooma in Balmora or to the Creeper in Caldera, and you can either sell the Moon Sugar or keep it for potion making.
Move to Balmora, and take over a house on the side of the South Wall Corner Club. Preferably the last house at the back on the right. Kill the owner, and sell all of his stuff. If you haven't got a Ceramic Bowl at this point, there should be one here. Same with the plants and mushrooms. Go See Caius Cosades just along the road from your new house, give him the package, talk about orders, then say "Blades Trainers". He will give you the names of all of the trainers. Select each of the names, then go and visit the ones in Balmora. Make sure you do that when you are level one! One of them will give you a steel helm and cuirass, another one will give you an apprentices alembic, and another one will give you 4 moon sugar and tell you where you can sell it. You can then either keep this stuff or flog it.
