My Gram and great grandparents lived in Morriston and my husband and i visited south Wales. One of the biggest thrills was finding the Parish Church of Llangfelash where my grandparents were marrie d in 1877. It is no wonder that they all planned to return to Wales. I love it and will be back.

My mother, Edith Lewis Bell, born 1905, was born in Cambridge Ohio to John and Margaret Lewis who migrated there in 1897 from Morriston. My mother loved being Welsh and traveled to Wales in 1910 and again in 1928, I made my only trip there in 1992 and loved it. I walked the streets of Morriston, the same streets as my grandparents so long ago. I am a newspaper editor and a pretty fair photographer.

Keep coming back to view the site.I used to live in Bath Road.Next to Dai Francis's bungalow, number 36.The site of Dai's bungalow used to be the Scout hut.Who remembers the Morriston Brickworks and the kilns at the end of Pentremalwed road, Bayliss Icecream who used to come around in a three wheeler van that had a bar type steering wheel and used to ring a hand bell.Betty who used to sell cockles on the corner of Crown Street, Cess the milk who had a pony and trap.Morriston Baths(Now pulled down)The Pitch and Put.The old Italian Prisoner of war camp at the top end of the park.Who remembers the pavilion down by the old Baths. It used to have a sign on it saying Morris Town. When my late parents married they live in one of the houses in Crown street where the Monkey Puzzle tree was(or still

Yes Trevor I remember all the things you mention in your message.I used to go to the scout hut when I was in cubs and scouts.Ate lots of Baylis's ice cream. My wife worked with Cess the milk as a young girl.I worked at Uriel Rees the late 40's and early 50's.Those really where the good old days and yes Mrs Hunt wouldn't let anyone else near that till.I reckon she may have died on that stool.Best wishes to everyone in Morriston.I visit this site quite often to keep in touch with the old place.

Yes guys, I also remember all those things. I loved waiting for Mr Bayliss to come with his Ice Cream truck, I wonder where that went? I lived in Wychtree Street and would ride the milk cart with Ces Lewis. I remeber one time on Neath road another girl, (think her name was Linda Holland -- not quite sure) jumped off the cart and got hit by a car. As for the characters on Woodfield Street -- my Dad - Haydn Morgan the greengrocer, Mr Greep the hardware, Mr. Jupp the TV store alongside St. David's. Where are all those who went to Martin Street School -- and went on the Ascot exchange in the 60's?

just returned yet again to your site, it has improved greatly (always thought it good). Many memories brought back when I read an entry from Trevor. I too remember Baylis's icecream. I used to work in Evan Glyn Hopkins newsagents just opposite from where old Cess would come out onto the road. Now live in Western Australia.
