Life History
Charles Henry STIMPSON was born at Radley on 19-Aug-1876 being the youngest son of James STIMPSON and Ann DENTON. At the time of the 1891 census he was living at Cholswell Berks with his parents and working as a Ploughboy. He later worked at Radley College as a ManServant and by the time of his marriage in 1907 he was a Footman and living at Teesdale Terrace Abingdon. He married Beatrice Humphries on 6-Apr-1907 at St Helens church Abingdon. A group photograph was taken at this event as shown below. After the marriage Charles and Beatrice set up home at Sutton Wick Berks.
Charles later went on to be enlisted in the Army during WW1.
Charles and Beatrice had 7 children (as above) and they lived most of their lives in Spring Road Abingdon. Charles wife Beatrice died in 1949 aged 67, and Charles later spent his life being nursed at Southmoor. Charles died at Cowley Rd Hospital Oxford on 4-Oct-1960 aged 84. He was buried beside his wife at New Cemetry, Spring Gardens, Abingdon.
Charles acted as Godfather to Neice Agnes Rose Denton at her christening in 1896.
