Life History
Edna Mary STIMPSON was born 30-Jul-1893 as the daughter of Shadrach STIMPSON and Elizabeth Emily GRAINGER. When she was about 3 years old she moved, with her parents from Water Eaton to Eaton Berks. Edna attended Appleton school (assumed) and by the time she was 12 (abt 1905) she moved, with her parents and younger brother, from Eaton to Appleton (assume Badswell Lane near to the Chapel). At the young age of 16 Edna's father Shadrach died (1909) and was buried at Appleton church.
Edna worked as a domestic servant and later met her husband who coincidently shared the same STIMPSON name. Alfred Thomas STIMPSON was living in Eaton prior to the couples marriage on 13-Apr-1915 at Appleton church. Edna and Alfred set up home in Park lane Appleton after their marriage and gave birth to 7 children. Edna and Alfred later moved house to No. 83 Eaton Road Appleton, Berks. (Sep-1939), a house rented from the local council. On 23-Sep-1939 they enjoyed attending the marriage ceremony of their first daughter Edith. On 12-Apr-1941 another marriage ceremony was to be attended, this time that of their second daughter Mary. After a few years at No. 83 they moved to No. 108 Eaton Road Appleton, a house that Edna’s husband Alfred had built for them. In 1966 Edna and Alfred attended the funeral of their eldest son George Alfred STIMPSON at St Lawrence’s Church Appleton. In about 1967, she and Alfred, along with their son Henry, moved into an annexed bungalow, No. 110 Eaton Road Appleton. This had recently been constructed especially for them. Her first daughter Edith continued to live at 108 Eaton Rd Appleton. In 1975 Edna saw the funeral of her husband Alfred STIMPSON at St Lawrence’s church Appleton.
Edna died on 9-Feb-1975 and was buried at Appleton Church on 13-Feb-1975. Grave stone positions.
