Phrases and clauses
In this exercise you must decide whether the words make a phrase or a clause.

A clause contains a verb and can used either as a whole sentence or part of a sentence.
A phrase does not contain a verb and does not make sense on its own.
 
The balloons popped.
long and loud
After the party
They moved quietly.
with a sigh
as flat as a pancake
We skipped.
It rained heavily.
thunder and lightning
before breakfast
in a while
The wind roared.
