Focus

Within this unit of study we will develop our listening and appraising skills by listening to a variety of Classical music.  You will be introduced to styles, composers and sounds through the video "Amadeus" and will be able to relate music to its social and historical context.  we will identify stylistic features of Classical music and become familiar with sonata form, through performance and listening.

You will learn to

Identify Classical music and different composers

Develop an understanding of the stylistic features and social influences upon the music - court music...

Develop an ability to score read

Identify structural elements of Sonata Form - Exposition, Development and Recapitulation

Identify instruments and become aware of the development of orchestral instruments

Develop the ability to analyse music in terms of texture, form and elements

Respond to and evaluate a wide variety of Classical music

Plan and rehearse a performance of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik for recording
