Homework Help

Year 9

Classical Music 1750-1810

At the moment year 9 are studying Classical music with a focus on triadic melodic patterns and composition.  By the end of this half term all year 9 students will have performed Eine Kleine Nachmusik by Mozart and the Surprise Symphony by Haydn. All students will compose a set of variations based on Haydn's Surprise Symphony.  Most will compose their own variation (without the help of a framework on the worksheet) and add chords and some will add a bass line and several variations based on their own creative ideas.

You will be assessed on your composition this term.  Everyone will be expected to hand in a neat copy along with a min project about Classical music.  Weekly homework will provide the content for the projects.

Mozart Notes about Mozart and his works.
Haydn Notes about Haydn and his works.
Theme and Variations Information about this form and examples.
