Scheme of work
10kb

A scheme of work for the teaching of major and minor scales.

The Story of Carmen

A detailed summary of the plot.  This worksheet should be used as a reading exercise before the study of this piece.  Questions can be set for homework.

Links

Bizet And Carmen

A useful page with links to information about Bizet and Carmen, created by an American Vocal music teacher.  This page also has a test to print out and test understanding of opera words, and Carmen.

Introduction to Music Theory

A fairly useful site which has many different lessons on music theory.  Perhaps a little confusing for year 7 students but reading this might help to develop their understanding.

Music theory lessons

Free music theory lessons on-line! This site has midi musical examples, lessons, and a forum to ask your theory questions. An excellent site that is certainly worth looking at.

Scales

Like an enhanced dictionary, here you will find some basic definitions and discussion of music theory. A good place to start.

Singing Leaves

An interactive activity using the notes of the C major scale.  Although aimed at a younger age range, I have included this site simply because it is so much fun.  Pupils can play about with the notes of the scale to compose their own tunes and the squirrels will love to hear you play.

On Line Quizzes

Major scales Ear Training
An ear training quiz that allows pupils to listen to examples identify the major scales.  An excellent exercise for all.
