| 20 Mar 2001 | "New Born" will be the next single to be released in the UK, on 28th of May. Head for the AUDIO page to hear an MP3 of the studio recording. It's 96kps, but you should buy it when it comes out anyway. Superb. |

| 18 Mar 2001 | Once again, I'm sorry for the lack of updates to the site. I'm having trouble with BT Internet (my service provider) who are basically about to rip me off. This means I will be unable to upload anything to the site until I move it to new space. I'm currently trying to sort this situation out, and hopefully it will be resolved in the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, Muse enter the UK singles chart at number 11 with Plug In Baby. An excellent result for the single (which has been on the Radio 1 "A" playlist for some time now). The single seems to have been getting a huge amount of airplay, thus rescuing Radio 1 listeners from the mass of Craig David and similar dirge that they're usually subjected to. Muse are finishing their second album off at the moment, and will be going out on a UK tour in May, with the album due in June. |

| 05 Dec 2000 | The new single is apparently now complete, and more or less ready for promo release. Dave Bottril took up production duties. No-one's letting on what the single will be, though it's expected to be Plug-in baby (live version on the AUDIO page). I suspect they're keeping quiet because it'll probably be announced on the band's new official site, due for release before Christmas. Congratulations to Muse who have made it in to Q magazine's top 50 albums of 2000. OK, we all know the album was released in 1999, but I like to think Q felt guilty about not including it last year and saw sense this year. Showbiz mixes with illustrious albums from the likes of Grandaddy, Eminem, Doves, Lambchop and Neil Young in the top 50 (January 2000 issue of Q). Sunburn is also featured on the excellent cover disc of Q. The following comments from Dominic accompany the CD; "Sunburn is a song that happened in the studio about two years ago. I remember Matt playing around with a line on the piano and then on the guitar. Then the rest of us joined in. It's a song we still love playing live and always will. It's about moving into a new world, mentally or physically, realising it's not what you thought it was going to be. It was written at a time of change for us - we'd gone from painting and decorating and signing on, to flying first class to LA!". For those who need the explanation, "signing on" means claiming unemployment benefit (welfare). There's also a write-up for Showbiz which I haven't included here, because anyone who can do so should buy this magazine, and then they can find out for themselves! Apparently, Showbiz was the last great record Kelis bought. The wild-wigged wailing banshee said "I bought this the last time I was out here. I love that. I saw their video and that shit moved me and then I did an interview with Jamie Theakston on the radio and it came on and I was like, "Oh shit, that's Muse?" And I was like, "OK, enough is enough, I've got to get that"" So a grudging morcel of respect to the lairy songstress then. |

| 17 Oct 2000 | So the third UK release of Muscle Museum charts at number 25 in the UK top 40 chart. A solid performance, but was it worth it? Only time will tell. It's certainly kept Muse in the media spotlight during the run-up to the release of the second album. A correction has been made to the Gigs page - the gig in Sydney is on 25th October at City Live, whatever that is. Sorry for any confusion over the previously inaccurate date. Oh yeah, don't forget to vote for this site in Dotmusic's web site poll. Click here to lend your support; |
| 01 Oct 2000 | Head to the AUDIO page (scroll down it) to get a short remix of Unintended. If you'd like to submit a remix of a Muse track (it can't be any worse than mine...), get in touch. |

| 28 Sep 2000 | Just added another new MP3 to the AUDIO page. Muse performing live on Jo Whiley's BBC Radio 1 show. Another one to come soon. Muse are currently recording their new album, which involves the producing/mixing talents of Dave Bottril (dEUS), Andy Wallace (Jeff Buckley, Nirvana) and John Leckie! It looks like the release of Muscle Museum has been put back to 9th October, possibly so the most advantage can be gained from recent appearances on Channel 4's "The Priory" and 4Music. |
| 01 Sep 2000 | Where do I start? It's been ages since I updated the web site, so I'll get my apology in now. The GIGS pages have now been updated, and there are some new reviews in the REVIEWS section. On the IMAGES pages, there should soon (next week, I hope) be some photos from Muse's triumphant (if rather chaotic) headlining appearance at the Reading Festival last weekend. Muscle Museum will be re-released on October 2nd in the UK, featuring some live b-sides, Soulwax's mental remix of Muscle Museum (a source close to the band describes it as sounding "like Gary Numan getting shagged up the arse by Roni Size") and possibly the Timo Maas remix of Sunburn. More details should follow soon. More news tomorrow. |

| 27 Jun 2000 | Following Muse's performance at the Glastonbury festival, they were presented with a gold disc for UK sales of over 100,000 of the album, Showbiz. There should be a photo in next week's Music Week industry magazine. Worldwide sales are about 300,000. The 15 minute programme about Muse, due to be shown on Channel 4 at the beginning of June, was not shown because it doesn't exist. So don't hold your breath for a re-scheduling! A producer for the next Muse album has yet to be officially chosen. It is rumoured that John Leckie will again take up production responsibility, but there are no hints about a definite decision as yet. No studio time has been booked for recording the album, but as soon as I know anything, I'll post the info. here. Finally, Muscle Museum is due to be released in the UK as the 6th (yes, SIXTH) single from Showbiz. As far as I can ascertain, this is Mushroom's decision, and has yet to be officially confirmed. According to Matt Bellamy, we can expect some new b-sides and a new video, featuring live performances by the band. We'll have to wait and see whether this third release of Muscle Museum will have a negative effect on the band's profile. Did someone mention Ooberman? |
| 14 Jun 2000 | Today's Melody Maker lists Matt as the 8th "coolest" person in music. Christ... |
