Male Figure -Bafut - 1983

Bororo Man - Bafut - 1983 This work depicts a Bororo man. The Bororos, once a nomadic people, now reside in the Cameroon Grassfields. Over the course of time a good number of these cattle tribes people, especially the youths, have left the hills for the towns. This figure portrays how Bororos are interacting with other Grassfielders. Today they can be found in bars drinking beer, corn beer or palm wine. Traditionally their main occupation was looking after cattle. Now they are drivers, students, policemen and state employees to name but a few. In the figure the Bororo man is dressed in a typical Grassfileds style with a cup for drinking palm wine in his right hand. The name of the carver is unknown.
