Peanut President - John Musa - 1978
Peanut President U.S. President Jimmy Carter was highly admired by John who had just graduated from High School. Partly because John shared the same interest with Jimmy Carter as lovers of agriculture but most importantly as a great statesman and peacemaker. For these reasons the artist decided to carve Jimmy's portrait with the map of the U.S.A. and with peanuts dotted around. Sadly an American citizen, a university Don on visit to Kumba where the work was completed in 1978, duped him and disappeared with this masterpiece.
