This was my Astra Si. I purchased it new and drove it more than 140,000 miles over the eight years that I owned it. It was used to tow my race cars as well as being my every day car. In 1994 I drove it right around Europe, visiting all the major race circuits. This picture was taken up the Alps during that trip.

The Nissan Almera GTi is my current car. It has a 2litre, 16valve engine producing 147bhp. It is an ex-demonstration car and has all the extras that are available. The BMW Z3 does not belong to me but I had been driving it just before this photograph was taken.

This is the Mushroom Racing pit bike. It is a 50cc Honda ZZ kids trials bike. It has a three speed clutchless manual gear change and a nasty tendency to pull wheelies. We take it to most events and use it to save walking around.

Racing must be in my blood. This is the earliest photograph I have of me racing a car. The car featured a plastic body, lightweight plastic wheels and had a tlp (two leg power) engine. I also think this is the earliest example of hand signals that I learnt (very useful on todays busy roads).

This is Mikes 2.9 4x4 Sierra. It is the most awesome gas guzzling tow car of the group. It is the only car that we own that does less mpg than the race car that it tows!!!!!

Scaz was Mikes old car that he owned whilst working for Fast Car magazine. He completed the Italian Job Mini run in 1992 in this car. Just as well it had twin tanks, as with a 1380 and Weber carb, it needed to fill up just as often as the normal cars on the ‘job’.

This was Richard Williamsons Mini 7 race car. Richard used to work for Mini World magazine and Mushroom Racing were asked to prepare and respray his car. The car was advertised for sale shortly after all the work had been completed.

This was Bertie, the first Mini that I took to the Mini World Castle Combe Action Day. He was bought for £50 as an MOT failure. Although he was only a 998cc, he was great fun to drive and was used to attend every Mini show for about two years before Tammy was built.

This was Gary Smiths chopped Mini. It was built whilst Gary was at University and made it’s first appearance at the Riviera Run and then London to Brighton. Unfortunately it died a horrible death in a garage fire before it could ever be finished. Here it is shown with the bare minimum of welding.

In 1993 I found myself without a car for the Castle Combe track day. This Clubman was bought for £90 with MOT and Tax. It was then stripped of all unnecessay trim and taken to the track. It was scrapped soon afterwards and so was never given a name, but it did appear on the Mini Mania video.

This is my 1968 Triumph Herald 1200. It was bought as a restoration project, and that’s what it still is. About the only thing that has been done so far is it has been given a name, Tracy. One day I might just get round to doing some work on it..! Until then, it will continue to live in the garage.
