This former French African colony that use to be called Dahomey released two stamps in 1979 to commemorate the bicentenary of Captain Cook's death.

Bicentenary of the Death of Cook 2v Resolution and Discovery, Hawaii and route of third voyage are shown on the 20f stamp. The 50f stamp shows Webber's painting of Cook's death. Scott catalogue numbers for these two stamps are C288-C289.

Burkina Faso

This landlocked former French colony, which used to be called Haute Volta (Upper Volta), issued four stamps in 1978 prematurely commemorating the bicentenary of Cook's death. The stamps were also released imperforate and as four imperforate miniature sheets. In 1999 they issued a set of ships stamps including a sheetlet showing a Resolution. It is however the Resolution from 1667 and not Cook's ship.

Bicentenary of Cook's Death 2v The 100f stamp shows Cook and the Siege of Quebec. The 250f value shows Cook and his ships on the furthest south during the second voyage. Airmail stamps Scott C271-C272.

République Centrafricaine

This landlocked African country released a set of four stamps in 1978 to commemorate the bicentenary of Cook's Discovery of Hawaii. The stamps were also released imperforate and as imperforate miniature sheets.

Bicentenary of Cook's Death 4v The 60f stamp shows the Endeavour careened. The 80f shows Cook at the bow of ship. The 200f shows Cook landing at Erromanga and the 350f shows Hawaiian rowers wearing gourd masks. Scott 341-344. These stamps were also released imperforate and as single miniature sheets.

Union de Comores

The Comoro Islands first issued a Cook overprint on an independence issue in 1978 (30f & 50f stamps). In 1979 both a 1500f stamp and miniature sheet were issued partly commemorating Cook and partly the Year of the Child. In 1992 a set of Explorers included a 75f stamp that featured Cook and both the ship and space shuttle Endeavour.

Most recently in 2008, the islands (now called Union de Comores) released a sheet of 6 showing ancient navigators. The 450fc stamp shows Cook.

Actually the portrait looks more like Bougainville, and the child on the stamp carries a rifle and a teddy bear. Don't lose any sleep over not having this one in the collection.
République Federale Islamique des Comores	28/05/1992	Explorers 6v, M/S(6v) & 6xM/S(1v) This set of six includes one 75f stamp and matching single miniature sheet showing Cook, and both the ship and space shuttle Endeavour. The stamp is also included in the miniature sheet of six stamps.

The 250f shows Hodges 'Tahitian War Canoe' and the 350f shows Hodges 'Matavai Bay'. Scott 489-492. These stamps were also released imperforate and as miniature sheets.

République de Djibouti

This small country on the Horn of Africa released two stamps in 1980 to belatedly commemorate the bicentenary of Cook's death. These stamps were also released imperforate and as two deluxe miniature sheets (perforate and imperforate). In 2000, they released a set called Millennium of Navigation that included the Endeavour on one stamp.

Most recently, Djibouti has released two sheetlets of 9 showing ‘the Great Navigators’ including Cook, Bougainville and Tasman. (2010)

These stamps were also released imperforate and as miniature sheets (both perforate and imperforate). The miniature sheets were also overprinted for the 2nd Anniversary of the Royal Wedding and for the Hawaii Anniversary.

Bicentenary of Cook's Death 6v (perforate & imperforate) & M/S(2v) The 25f shows the Endeavour and Cook's track round New Zealand. The 50f shows the Endeavour careened in Australia. The 60f shows the Freelove docked in Whitby. The Resolution near an iceberg is shown on the 70f. The Webber portrait of Cook is on the 90f stamp and the 200f top value shows the sail plan of the Endeavour. The top two values were included in the miniature sheet that also shows the Dance portrait of Cook on the border. Scott catalogue numbers for these stamps are C369-C374 & C374a. These stamps were also released imperforate.
