The following topics are aimed at KS2.

Topic 1 – “Food and Drink with additional French Market activities” - As featured in Scholastic's Junior Education Magazine (June 2007)

Topic 2 – “Clothes and Weather” - New! (July 2007)

Each topic includes a variety of structured card games, flashcards and worksheets with full teaching notes and ideas for classroom activities. All material is available electronically to allow the teacher to view and print material as and when required. Full printing assembly and playing instructions are given for each game. There is also an audio visual CD to complement each of these topics.


Topic 1 – “Food and Drink with additional French Market activities”

This CD-Rom contains printable resources for KS2 pupils. The topic is divided into 2 parts.

Part One:  The first part deals with the different food and drink consumed at breakfast, lunch and for snacks. The time in French is introduced in association with these meals. Pupils practise using du, de la, d’, des using both card games and worksheet exercises. Children will enjoy activities and games which range from buying bread and croissants at the baker’s to ordering drinks and ice-cream in a café. They will learn the days of the week through playing a Menu game which revises all the meal-times vocabulary in the topic.

Part Two : Following on from the introduction to fruit and vegetables in KS1 French Market.  Money and weights are introduced as well as some extra food vocabulary.

    3. Clock game – fill the clock with the correct day’s menu.

  • Pupil’s workbook.  23 pages of worksheets containing black/white line drawings and exercises related to learning the vocabulary around mealtimes, likes and dislikes of food and drinks, how to ask for some food or drink using Je voudrais and by changing le, la, les to du, de la, des. How to ask for food and drink in a café, the introduction of money, time practise (hours only), and days of the week practise.

Topic 2 – “Body, Actions, Clothes and Weather”

“Body, Actions, clothes and Weather” printable resource CD

This CD-Rom contains printable resources to make a wide range of class activities suitable from KS1 upwards. The workbook is aimed at KS2.

The topic begins at KS1 by teaching the vocabulary for parts of the body and actions through the use of the printable full colour ACTION TEDDY FLASHCARDS and ARLEQUIN the puppet together with appropriate traditional action songs and rhymes. There are team activities such as “Pin the tail on the Donkey” and “Make a Teddy with clothes” using the templates provided.

The topic gradually develops into KS2 clothing and weather theme as vocabulary and grammar is introduced for boy’s and girl’s clothing, coloured clothes, and clothing for different situations and weather through appropriate activities, songs and games and corresponding worksheets and story. Easier activities are included for KS1 pupils with full teaching notes.

Teaching Aids 

  • Teaching notes to cover all activities, games and worksheets. Notes contain full lists of all materials required to carry out particular tasks and details of where to locate them in the CD-Rom.
  • Many colour templates to use in group/team activities including a puppet to assemble, large model teddy bears to print and make with their own cut-out paper clothes for a boy and a girl. There is the traditional “pin the tail on the donkey” game to assemble and a wolf mask to cut out and colour for use in a singing game. Also included is a Weather Spinner to print and make and a bird template for “Alouette” .
  • Story with pictures “Nico et Sophie vont aux magasins” – story explores language required for shopping for school uniform. May be printed or viewed electronically.
