Twinning 2002

Codsall and Bilbrook Twinning Association has been extremely successful since the signing of the official agreement to link with St Pryvé-St Mesmin, a cummunity near Orléans, France,  in April 1998, and each year has seen the development of new activities.

In 2001 a group of enthusiastic Junior Soccer players from Codsall & Bilbrook took part in an International Junior Soccer Tournament in Orléans with the vigorous and noisy support of our French friends from St Pryvé-St Mesmin.  Local Orléannais supporters were reported to have congratulated the Supporters of the English team on their command of French! The Junior players were outclassed by bigger and more experienced opponents but are determined to have revenge in this year's tournament on 18th & 19th May,2002.

In 2002,  there will be a visit from a French musical group to participate in the Arts Festival on the 17th March;  a group of  English twinning members will  visit  St. Pryvé in October for a long weekend of  sightseeing and partying!

There are plans  for an  exchange visit in May 2003 between our neighbours in Staffordshire, The Wombourne and District Choral Society, and the Chorale Chantemoy based near Orleans.  The choirs will perform both separately and together and will participate in  a joint  master class to be led by the two musical directors.

The twinning association is always ready to consider ideas for new links between groups, to further our aims of  international friendship and understanding.

Twinning is the perfect way for young people to make contacts to help with language study, and the High School is always very supportive of our activities, as are Codsall and Bilbrook Middle Schools.
