Evaluating

This is the last stage in your investigation and the part that most people find the hardest.

At the beginning you made a prediction about what you thought might happen.

You collected all the information and data. You interpreted the results. Your conclusion may be very similar to your prediction.

Remember it does not matter if they are not the same.

Your prediction could be wrong but now you can make a new and better prediction. If you have time you could start a new investigation based on your new prediction.

You must be careful not to say your results show your prediction is right when you have not got enough evidence. Remember the shoe size activity.

Could you say my results prove my prediction that boys in the class have larger feet than girls?

How could you change the activity to prove this?

Also look out for any strange result, those that do not seem right. These are worth mentioning and trying to explain what might have happened.

Finally could you make any improvements to the way you did the experiments. Note down any ideas you have during the activity. It would have worked better if I had …………
