Expanding Gases

Copy the diagram and add what would happen if you placed your warm hands around the round bottomed flask.

Remember that you will not only be heating up the glass but also the gas inside. Gases expand when heated.

The gas expands but the flask stays the same size. The gas has to get out and there is only one way. Out of the glass tube and through the water.
